Diabetes

Unfortunately, most of people with diabetes have other health issues too. They can be anything from high blood pressure ,kidney disease, diabetic neuropathy or increased amounts of cholesterol that can increase your risk or a heart attack, or heart disease or even a stroke. When these things combine with diabetes, these can really add up to big trouble. Did you know that more than 65% of people with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke. When a person has diabetes, heart attacks can occur earlier in life when someone is a lot younger. And when they do happen they often result in death. If a person with diabetes is able to manage their diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, they can usually avoid this type of thing.

But when I read and hear stories like this, I say to myself, there are a lot of people out there who want to help anyone with diabetes. It seems that people are looking for a more natural means of treatment. I can’t blame them. Thats what I am doing for my high blood pressure.

I am also finding out that there are some younger people who have to deal with diabetes too. Not being diabetic, I really don’t know what it is like. But its good to know that there are people from many walks of life that are willing to share the things that they have found that help with this condition.

Since a lot people with diabetes also have high blood pressure its unfortunately a double whammy. But, just like I am finding out about my high blood pressure, you don’t have to lose hope. Since I have been reading about how to deal with my high blood pressure, I have been seeing a lot of similar things about diabetes. Just like I had no idea about the amount of people with high blood pressure (1 in 3), I had no idea of the amount of people with high blood pressure AND diabetes. Did you know that 75% of folks with diabetes will have high blood pressure too? That’s a whole bunch of people!

When we are talking BP numbers in people without diabetes, you usually see the boundary line as 140/90. This is how your doctor will tell if you have high blood pressure. But if you have diabetes, your doctor may raise the red flag if your blood pressure gets above130/80. And a lot of diabetics suffer from what they call “end stage renal disease” (thats where they put you dialysis), which seems to be a complication of having high blood pressure.

When you have high blood pressure, a lot of the smaller arteries and capillaries close off because of the increased blood pressure. Then they don’t function that well. Since your kidneys and your eyes have very small blood vessels in them, those two organs, (and others) usually have a lot of problems doing what they need to do. So, a lot of diabetics will lose thier vision and their kidneys won’t work fully. Thats important because the kidneys get rid of a lot of wastes in the body. If that’s not happening, then you will be in big trouble.
